Today, I called the surveyor who conducted our survey as part of purchasing the property. I told him I was concerned about the 1000 ft north property line with only a pin at each end and I wanted to get a few more installed.
I told him I wanted to have three more survey pins installed along that line so that they could later be used to install a fence. I originally thought it would be best to space them equidistant apart. However, he suggested they be installed in pairs so you could use each pair to string up then fence line since it is one long straight line.
The surveyor said he is backed up for three weeks due to all the rain. He said he would call prior to going out but that I would not need to be onsite when he does the work. I told him I would give him the combination to the gate when he calls. The total is a bit high at $400 but it is necessary.

Inspecting and Repairing the Deer Stand
The land we purchased came with a deer stand and feeder. The stand is just large enough to hold two people which will work great for my wife and I or my son and I going hunting.
The stand is no doubt many years old. However, the metal siding has kept in pretty good condition. The window frame on the front is really rotten but the rest of the window frames seem to be in good shape. I'm not sure if this is a sign of age or the use of untreated wood.
My plan would be to replace the window frame before this fall before it gets worse. I've some extra plexiglass from a previous stand project that I will use to make the window just a little bigger. I took a few measurements so I could work on this project a little at home and arrive with some usable pieces:
Window frame itself:
39 5/8" Wide
11" High
Window panel:
39 1/2" Wide
10 7/8" High
Plexiglass:
30 1/4" Wide
4 1/4" High (estimated)
The door is a unique design. The frame of the stand and the door frame are made from 2x4's. These two frames sit flush with one another. The door panel then screws to the door frame and overhangs on one side to make contact with the frame and stop it from swinging too far inward. It is a little tough to close but works fine. The door does need a handle on the inside and a lock for the outside of the door.

Property Line Concerns - North Line Dispute
I previously mentioned the recent trouble with our neighbors donkeys obtaining access to the land. What I did not mention is that during my first phone call to the owner he was quick to point out the fence we share is not the property line. He claims the line is about 5 to 7 foot over on my property along that entire stretch.
He is correct the fence, which he built, is not on the property line in one area near the road. However, I told him we had a survey done so we know exactly where the line is located. I tried to explain but he diagreed. He was not asking for anything to happen but was more just making a statement so after saying my part, I let it be.
I met him at the property later the same day. He once again mentioned it stating he just wove the old fence from tree to tree so it is not a straight line. Additionally, it is not on the property line as he wanted to be able to run my side of his fence to check it on his 4 wheeler to make sure it was fine without disturbing his animals.
We disussed it some and disagreed a little but didnt really argue over it. At this point, I'm not sure of how I want to respond as he is not asking for anything but is just making statements. He is a talker so its possible that is in his nature but as a new owner of the property it bothers me. Without any demands on his part I don't want to be aggressive when first meeting the guy.
The property line we share is rather long and has 1000+ foot of property line with no pins. The ends have pins but there are so many trees so can't feasibly link them. Through most of this area the surveyor says the fence is on the property line or a little on my side. This makes me want to be proactive in addressing the matter.
Right now, I'll focus on getting the donkeys off and then come up with a longer term plan.

Electrical Service - Inspecting Existing Items
Today, I checked the electrical pole and connections on the property. There is no meter so I'll need to get one installed. Before taking that step, I at least wanted to make sure what I had was functional
I expected to find a master breaker inside the box but did not. There appears to be only four different circuits. I expect one is on the right rear of this pole, one is on the left rear of this pole, and the other two are on a remote pole which was used with an RV in the past. However, I've not yet taken off the panel to confirm and get everything labeled.
I'm not sure about the top two outlets are for as they don't look like anything I've seen before.
The top of the remote RV pole has a standard outlet.
This is the bottom outlet on the RV pole. I think this is a standard style RV connection but I'm not sure if it is 110 or 220.
There is a little corrosion on the ends of the wire inside the meter box but the actual points where the meter connects appears to be fine.

Old Shed - Initial Inspection
We plan to spend tomorrow at the land but decided to stop by on our way through the area this evening. I wanted to take a look at the shed and make sure the keys we were provided worked.
The locks for the four gates work but don't work smoothly. I purchased a new set of matched key locks to use on the land anyway. Unfortunately, the latch on my new locks were so big they would not fit through the existing chain. The solution was easy but involved spending $20.78 for four 3' lengths of 5/16 chain from Lowe's.
The door to the shed leaves a little to be desired. It is wide enough to accomodate a 4 wheeler or mower but the previous owner set a piece of plywood down before shutting the door as the angle of the shed leaves a gradual gap which expands to 6" at one end.
The shed has a fair amount of junk in it. I'm sure some of it will be usable. However, I'll have to go through it all. That is rather difficult at the moment as it is filled with wasps.
There is carpet from a house lining the floor of the shed. Its rather nasty and something I plan to fix in the near future. The floor which is not covered with carpet has the remains of packaging which looks to have been torn into tiny pieces by rats.
I'm hopeful we can find a few items of use in the shed. The property has electricity but it is not routed to the shed. There is an electric cord on the floor and a light on the ceiling which I suppose they ran to a nearby outlet to have lights at night.
Once I feel confident the wasps are all dead, I'll go through the shed, clean it up, find out what there is worth keeping, and stock it with a few things I can use while out working on the property.
